The Analysis of the Lectures for Emperors on the Analects of Confucius in the Sung Dynasty

Abstract This paper aimed at "The Analects of Confucius" viewpoint of imperial education philosophy, through "Zhen Guan Zheng Yao" Political philosophy to analyze the conservation of "benevolence "、 "rite"、 "piety" in The Analects of Confucius and investigate the effect of Confucian Analects on the imperial education. Next, this paper organized the relevant study of the education system in the Sung Dynasty and established the historical status of Sung Dynasty’s educational institutions and the meaning of lectures. It’s also did affect to the succession of emperor and related from the study after the emperor Gao’s "Er Ying Note" and "Xi Dian Note". Furthermore, the Analects in Sung Dynasty had been taught by quoting the chapter of "Benevolence" (Fair appearances are suspicious.); "illustriousness" (The qualities of Tsze-lû, Tsze-kung, and Tsze-Yû, and their competency to assist in government.) "Virtue" (The happiness of Hûi independent of his poverty.), and emphasized the Virtue person of noble character and integrity. The paper also sum up the Analects in Sung Dynasty educational system in few essentials, including "timely learning"、"be filial piety and benevolence "、"follow the rite"、"rich all the people" to complete all the ability that emperor to be in power. In the end, this paper include those previous research, like Liu Gung Jau呂公著, Yang Shr楊時, Cheng Jiu程俱, Wang ShrPeng王十朋, Yuan Shuei You袁說友, Yuan Fu 袁甫, Liu KeJuang劉克莊, Hsu Yuan Jie徐元杰, Fang Feng Chen方逢辰, ’s lectures for emperors on the Analects of Confucius, and it’s even more value to complement each other of this paper.
