The one of the most represented composer of 20th century was Prokofiev. In his comprehensive works from symphony, orchestra piece, ballet, opera to chamber music, all of works are full of his dramatic character and ironic style. Prokofiev was influenced by the Neoclassicism, however in his work, we not only can find the conserved song form but also can heard the new harmonic usage, like the sudden transpose and the vigorous rhythm, both of the new and old mixed in his work, that make him outstanding in the musical realm from then to today. The topic of this thesis is: ( The Analysis and Interpretation of Prokofiev's Flute Sonata in D Major ,Op. 94),There are five chapters to approaching the subject; in the first chapter will introduce the author’s motivation and researching background; the second chapter will briefly collect Prokofiev composing background from the aspects of history and culture will also list the different style of composition in his life; The third chapter will start form the composition itself to analyze the form, the harmonic structure, the usage of the motive and also the composing background; the fourth chapter is the author’s own interpretation of this composition, will also discuses about the technical issue to play on this piece; the chapter fifth is the conclusion. From the study of the composer’s background and the aspect of culture influenced, to the detail analyze of this composition, the author will come up with more proper interpretation in the musical way, after the researching of this thesis.
