An action research method was used in present study in order to investigate the effectiveness of using scripts-intervention program to promote the topic initiatiioning abilities of a first grader student with high-functioning autism.
The results were as follows:
1.Using script-instruction program may increase the topic initiationing abilities of the first grader sudent in specific settings.
2.The effect of generalizing new skills learned in the intervening phase to other settings was not significant.
3.The parent had positive feedback toward the intervention program.
4.There are a lot of factors which may have contributions to successfully initiating a topic during conversation and which may not be as teachable target skills for the present instruction model.
