This research explored the relationship between teacher professional communities and teacher culture of elementary schools in Taipei City. Different background variables were compared and their effects were discussed. The approach of questionnaire survey is adopted in this research, and the questionnaire of “Teacher Professional Communities and teacher culture of elementary schools in Taipei City.” Stratified Purposeful Sampling was adopted. Subjects in the research were 700 elementary school teachers from 60 schools in Taipei, who had previously participated in the Teachers’ Professional Communities. The data collected were analyzed by statistical methods such as mean scores, standard deviation, t-tests, One-Way ANOVA, Pearson's Product-Moment Correlation and Stepwise multiple regression. The major findings of the research are as follows: 1.Taipei City elementary school teachers' attitude and perspective toward the Teachers’ Professional Communities and its current implementation were moderate to high level. 2.Taipei City elementary school teachers tend to have positive teachers’ culture. 3. There was significant difference in teachers’ perceptiveness of the Teachers Professional Communities due to some background variables. 4. There was significant difference in teachers perceptiveness of teachers culture due to some background variables. 5. Perceptiveness of the Teacher Professional Communities and teachers positive culture were moderately positive correlated. 6. Teachers’ Professional Communities could significantly predict teachers’ perceptiveness of the Teachers’ culture
According to the research findings, some suggestions are proposed for the educational administrative agencies, schools, teachers and for future research as well.
